Local Sports For Thursday January 3

Fort Frances Muskies senior girls volleyball team has found a league to play in temporarily.

They're joining the Fort Frances Women's Volleyball League while their regular season remains up in the air over to the teachers dispute.

They're replacing the "No Limit" team which has dropped out after recent difficulties fielding full squads.

League officials say when the Muskies return to high school action, they'll adjust their schedule for the remaining 9 teams.

The League resumes play next Thursday.



High school sports resumes at Falls High School tonight.

The International Falls Broncos girls basketball team travels to Virginia.



Two junior curling teams from the Rainy River district begin play today at the provincial junior curling championships in Kapaskasing.

Jay Turner leads a team from Atikokan in the boys side while Stratton's Jessica Haw competes in the girls.

There are a couple of other district connections as well.

Isaac Keefer of Fort Frances is playing on a Thunder Bay rink skipped by Kurtis Byrd while his sister Tirzah is skipping her own team out Thunder Bay.
