Local Sports for Friday June 24

The host team has come away with a majority of the medals at the Ontario District 1-A Senior Games.

Fort Frances participants earned four gold,, 3 silver and 3 bronze following three days of activities.

It included a sweep of medals in the table shuffleboard yesterday.

The Big Grassy Lightning have moved into second spot in the Rainy River District Fastball League with a 13-0 win over Big Island.

The Lightning remain two games back of Beef's Warriors who had their game with Manitou postponed.

Elsewhere, Rainy River edged Stratton 4-3.

Sight and Sound needed nine innings to dispatch Barwick 6-5

And Travis Tom earned his league-leading seventh win on the mound as the Big Grassy Braves defeated Northwest Bay 14-2.




Both men's games in the Borderland Soccer League ended in defaults.

Manitou Forest Products was awarded the win over Emo while the Rendez-Vous Voyageurs earned the default victory over Pharmasave.
