Local Sports for Thursday June 9

Steve Arpin of Fort Frances takes to the track today for the first time in the NASCAR truck series at Texas Motorspeedway, a track he's very familiar with.

Arpin won at the track last July while racing the ARCA series with new sponsor Mikes Hard Lemonade. He also reached a deal to drive in the Nationwide series for Dale Earnhardt Jr. during the same time.

Today is practice and qualifying with the race tomorrow night.



The Rainy River District Fastball League was able to get in a game last night.

Manitou defeated Big Island 13-2 in a make-up game from one rained out May 31.

Tonight, its the Lightning at Sight and Sound.

Stratton travels to Big Grassy to play the Braves.

Big Island hosts Northwest Bay.

Rainy River tangles with Manitou.

Barwick faces Beef's Warriors.



Men's games in the Borderland Soccer League tonight see Pharmasave up against Emo and Manitou Forest Products playing the Rendez-Vous Voyageurs.
