Local Sports for Monday June 6

The Borderland Racing Association got its season revving Saturday following two consecutive rain outs.

Fort Frances drivers Gavin Paull in the Modified class and Chuck Lambert in the Midwest Modified and Don Bowman of Bemidji in Street Stocks were the feature winners.




Falls High School will be send several members of its track teams to the State championships.

Jake Jensen in pole vault and Shawn Filipiak in the high jump qualified after winner their events at the Section 7A championship Friday.

Brandon Richards will compete in shot put following a second placing showing Friday.

On the girls side, Breanna Shofner won the 200 metre and placed second in the 100 metre races to qualify in both events.

Savannah Olson in shot put and the 400 metre relay team also qualified.



Fort Frances Muskies concluded play at the all-Ontario boys AA soccer championship Friday with a 3-1 loss to Theriault of Timmins.

The Muskies went winless in four tries during the championship.



In a make-up game in the Rainy River District Fastball League, the Big Grassy Lightning blanked Northwest Bay Friday 9-0.
