Local Sports for Monday June 27

At Emo Speedway Saturday, Fort Frances driver Gavin Paull captured his third straight modified feature.

John Hettinga of Fort Frances won the Midwest modified feature while Don Bowman of Bemidji won in Street Stocks for the second time this year.

This week, racing at the track will coincide with Canada Day.



Fort Frances strongman Luke Skaarup took third at an event on the weekend in Dryden.

He finished 6 1/2 points back of the winner Dave Oslund of Minnesota.



Hockey Northwestern Ontario will be hosting a coaches workshop in Thunder Bay next Monday.

Former Canadian university coaches Vern Stenlund and Don McKee and former American Hockey League assistant Mike Busniuk will be among guest speakers.
