Local Sports for Monday June 13

Gavin Paull of Fort Frances won his second straight feature race in the modified division Saturday at Emo Speedway.

Other feature winners were Tylar Wilson in the midwest modified and Ron Westover in the street stocks.



Steve Arpin's first foray in NASCAR's truck series ended with a 23rd place finish in Friday's race at Texas.

The Fort Frances native was involved in a crash with 31 laps to go, but did see the front of field early on and raced among the top ten for a good part of the race.



Jake Jenson of Falls High School came home with a bronze medal in the pole vault at the State track and field championships in St. Paul.

Shawn Filipiak tied for fourth in the high jump while Brandon Richards placed 14th in shotput.

On the girls side, Brianna Shofner placed 7th in the 100 metre dash, but failed to qualify for the 200 metre final.

Savannah Olson was 12th in shotput
