Local Sports for Thursday October 13


Fort Frances Lakers suffered a 5-4 shootout loss to the hands of the Sioux Lookout Flyers last night in Sioux Lookout.

Dane Morin, Ben Michaud, Henry Gutierrez and Ryan Wildman scored the Lakers.

A point earned moved teh Lakers into sole possession of first in the SIJHL.




The Fort Frances Girls-Women's Hockey Association has kicked off its season.

The Rolling Lake Lightning and Dynamic Homes Hurricanes played to a 4-4 draw in an atom game.

Skates and Blades/M & M Meats edged BDO Dunwoody 2-1 in a bantam game.

Madisyn Degagne and Taylor Degagne scored for Skates and Blades.

Rachel Jean replied for BDO.




Rainy River Owls took three of four games on the court yesterday from Sioux Lookout's Queen Elizabeth High School.

The senior girls basketball team beat the Warriors 36-32 while the juniors were 45-12 winners.

The Owls junior boys volleyball team need 5-sets to dispose of their Sioux Lookout opponents while the senior boys lost in three sets.



Rainy River Voyageurs women's volleyball team defeated Hibbing in 5 sets.
