Local Sports for Wednesday October 19


Jordan Larson scored twice and set-up two others to help the Fort Frances Lakers to a 5-3 win over Dryden last night at the Ice for Kids Arena.

Colton Spicer, Connor Hady and Dane Morin also replied for the Lakers who move back into first ahead of Wisconsin.

Tyler Ampe picked up the win in net.




Falls High School girls cross country run team will send three members to the all-Conference team.

Sydney Raboin in 4th, Lexi Erickson 12th and Amber Harms 13th qualified at the Iron Range Conference meet at Hoyts Lake.

No members of the boys team advanced, but Eric Matthews took top spot in the junior high boys event.

Meantime, members of Fort Frances High School cross country team compete at the NWOSSA championships in Thunder Bay today.




International Falls Broncos girls volleyball team closed out its regular season with a 3-set win over Mesabi East to finish with 10 wins and 13 losses.

They find out today where they're seeding for next week's Section 7AA championship.



Falls High School girls swim team scored their opponents from Babbit in the pool yesterday, taking wins in 9 of 11 events.



Fort Frances Muskies court teams are back in action today.

The boys volleyball and girls basketball teams are in Kenora.



International Falls Broncos football team hosts Greenway in its season finale at Bronco Stadium.

Game time is 7 p.m.


Rainy River Voyageurs women's volleyball team finishes its regular season in the MCAC with a home game against Central Lakes - 6:30 p.m. at the College.



There are three games in the Fort Frances Girls-Women's Hockey Association tonight.

Super 8 plays the Lakewood Tire Eagles in a peewee division game - 7 p.m. at the 52 Canadians Arena

That will be followed by a bantam match-up between Skates & Blades/M&M Meats and the BDO Dunwoody Stars

And over in Emo, Kaemingh Esso plays Emo - 7 p.m. at the Emo LaVallee arena.
