Local Sports for Thursday October 6


A busy day for high school sports teams today.

Fort France Muskies football team plays a rare Thursday game hosting Elmwood.

Game time is 3 p.m.

The Muskies boys volleyball and girls basketball teams host Kenora's Beaver Brae Broncos.

Atikokan High School's court teams are home to Red Lake.

International Falls Broncos girls volleyball team hosts Ely, 7 p.m. at Falls High School.

Falls High School girls swim team competes in Warroad.

It's cross country run teams are in Hibbing.

There is also a cross country meet involving area elementary schools at Crossrooads School in Devlin.



Last night, the Rainy River Voyageurs women's volleyball team was defeated by Northland Community College in four sets.

They host Fond du Lac tomorrow.



Falls High School swim team picked up a couple of wins at a meet in Virginia Tuesday.

Jessie Hell was first in diving.

Claire Herzig took the 100 yard breaststroke.

A victory was also claimed in the 200 yard medley relay that also saw Falls swimmer finish 3rd and 7th.



Another former member of the International Falls Broncos has been added to Minnesota Hockey Hub's top high school hockey players in the State.

Netminder Pete Waselovich, who backstopped the Broncos to three straight State tournament appearances in the '70's, including a title win in '72, is ranked 53rd.

He's the 5th Bronco named to the list.
