Local Sports for Friday October 14


Falls High School girls cross country run team finished third at a meet held in the Falls yesterday.

Sydney Raboin led the way with a 5th place finish.

Fort Frances High School sent seven runners with Jenna Wilson finishing 70th.

On the boys side, the Falls team was fifth overall while Fort sent just two runners - Jack Hamilton and Dexter Fischuk who were well back in the field.

Hailey Beaudry of Fort Frances was fourth in the junior girls run.

Eric Mathews led the Falls team with a 4th place in the junior boys run.

Arthur Van Ael led the Fort Frances juniors with a 33rd place finish.




Fort Frances Muskies will be a part of history on the football field today.

They'll be the Eagles opponents in the first ever night game in Dryden.

Meantime, the International Falls Broncos host Hibbing - 7 pm at Bronco Stadium.




Fort Frances Lakers host the Duluth Clydesdales tonight at the Memorial Sports Centre.

The Lakers are one points ahead of Wisconsin for the lead in the SIJHL while Duluth comes in winless in their last three.




Three of Fort Frances Muskies court teams are in action this weekend.

The senior and girls basketball teams are in tournament in Thunder Bay.

The senior boys volleyball team competes in a tournament in Dryden.

Rainy River Voyageurs women's volleyball team travels to Virginia to face Mesabi Community College.

The ladies are in Ely tomorrow against Vermilion.

Yesterday, the International Falls Broncos girls volleyball team lost to Virginia in three sets.
