Local Sports for Wednesday March 17

Fort Frances Lakers and the Dryden Ice Dogs kick off game one of their SIJHL semi-final series.

The Lakers have not beaten the Dogs this season.

Heading into the series, Bryon Kakapaytuk and Jordan Carne lead the league with 8 playoff points.

Yesterday, the Fort William North Stars took a 1-0 lead in their series with Sioux Lookout with an 8-4 win.


An all-star team comprised of high school hockey players from the Duluth Area defeated their counterparts from the Iron Range area 6-4 in the first of a two-game series in Duluth last night.

International Falls' Willie Corrin had a goal in the game for the Iron Range team.

Corrin also won the hardest shot competition with a shot registering in at 93 miles per hour.

Jon McDonald, Matt Youso, Christopher Little and Jordan Christianson are other Broncos on the Iron Range team.
