Local Sports for Wednesday March 3

Fort Frances Lakers open a best-of-seven playoff series with the K-and-A Wolverines in Thunder Bay tonight.

The Wolverines won 8 of 12 games played against the Lakers during the regular season.

The first two games of the series will be played in Thunder Bay before the series shifts to the Fort this weekend.


Fort Frances Canadians Midget AA hockey team plays its final game of the season in Grand Rapids tonight.

The game, which starts at 7 p.m., will be followed by a dinner to be hosted by the Grand Rapids team.


International Falls Broncos girls' basketball team opens the secton 7AA playoffs at home with a game against Greenway.

Game time at Falls High school is 7:30 p.m.

The Broncos are ranked third.


More all-star honours for Bentley Hylton of the Rainy River Voyageur's men's basketball team.

Hylton is named to the all-state team by the Minnesota College Athletic Conference.

The sophomore was fourth in scoring in the north division, averaging 18.5 points per game.
