Local Sports for Friday June 4

Don Copenance pitched shutout ball to help the Sabaskong Cubs to a 4-0 victory over the Barwick Knights.

The win moves the Cubs into first in the Rainy River District Fastball League - a half game lead over the Knights.

Elsewhere, Logan Allan and Kurtis Wepruk hits homers as Sight and Sound pounded Big Island 15-1.

The Big Grassy Lightning beat Northwest Bay 19-4 - Orville Smith hitting a homerun for Northwest Bay in a losing cause.

Homeruns from Matt Ashworth and Murray Armstrong helped Rainy River to a 7-4 win over the Big Grassy Braves.

Stratton end a two-game losing streak with a 14-5 win over Manitou.



Craig McTavish did all the scoring as Pharmasave won its first of the season in the Borderland Soccer League with a 3-1 victory over the La Place Rendezvous Voyageurs under 18-boys team.

In the women's division, the Voyageurs under-18 girls team moved into a tie for first place with a 3-1 win over Taggs Source for Sports.

Practice and qualifying goes today with the race being run tomorrow at 12 noon CST.
