Local Sports for Wednesday June 2

J-J Landry won his league leading fifth game to help Barwick to an 8-6 win over the Big Grassy Lightning in Rainy River District Fastball League action last night.

The Knights remain in first, a half game up on Sabaskong who kept pace with a 2-1 win over Sight and Sound.

Elsewhere, it was the Big Grassy Braves defeating Manitou 18-3 - Jesse Tom belting his third home run of the season for the Braves.

Rainy River doubled up Northwest Bay 4-2.

The game between Big Island and Stratton was cancelled because Big Island did not have enough players to field at team.



The Rendezvous Voyageurs under-18 boys team open its 2010 season in the Borderland Soccer League with a win.

Aaron Kellar and Colton Spicer supplied the scoring in the Voyageurs 2-0 shutout of Emo.

In women's play, Al's and the Voyageurs under-18 girls team played to a scoreless draw.
