Local Sports for Monday June 21

Ron Westover continued his dominance at the Emo Speedway Saturday.

Westover won his third street stock feature of the year to increase his lead in the standings by 16 points.

Chuck Lambert captured the feature in the Midwest Modified division while Jason Anderson claimed checkers in the Modified class.



Runners from the Rainy River district were in two events over the weekend.

Nicole Turcotte and Dana Kosowick, both of Fort Frances, completed the half-marathon at the Gramma's Marathon in Duluth on Saturday.

Turcotte finished 33rd in her age category.

About a dozen runners were at the Manitoba Marathon yesterday, competing in the half-marathon.

Jerome Tuesday of Fort Frances was the top local finish with Dan Loney of Emo 21st in his age category.



Teams from the Rainy River District dominated the annual Rick Copenance Memorial fastball tournament.

Barwick beat Rainy River 5-4 in the A-side Final Sunday night.

Trevor Oltsher was named the tournament MVP.

In the B-side final, the host Sabaskong Cubs got by the Young Guns.

Sheldon Kelly was the selected as the best pitcher of the tournament.



The La Place Rendez-Vous Voyageurs under-18 teams are in action on two fronts tonight in the Borderland Soccer League.

The girls team faces Taggs Source for Sports.

The Voyageurs have won two previous matches.

On the men's side, the third-place Voyageurs face second-place Pharmasave
