Local Sports for Tuesday June 8

There was plenty of scoring in the Borderland Soccer League last night.

Manitou Forest Products took over first place in the men's division with an 8-0 shutout of the La Place Rendez-Vous Voyageurs under-18 team.

Joel Ashworth and Scott Bridgeman each getting a pair of goals with singles off the toes of Chad Faragher, Shaun Egan, Mike Sande and Mike Sonnasinh.

A better outcome for the Voyageur's under-18 girls team who beat Boston Pizza 9-2 to move into first in the women's division.

Jessica Caul, Courtney Roach, Sarah Coish and Wynona Kavanaugh each had two goals for the Voyageurs with Sarah Roach adding the other. Alyssa Holliday and Sarah Gould replied for Boston Pizza.



The Rainy River District Fastball league has three games on tonight's schedule - all make-up games from last month.

Sight and Sound travels to Rainy River, Stratton face the league-leading Sabaskong Cubs while the Lightning and Braves face each other in Big Grassy.




Registration is now being accepted for a fundraising run in International Falls.

The Bronco 5-K run or walk is organized by the Bronco Track Booster club and raises funds for the school's track and field teams.

It's scheduled for July 3 at the High School track and registration forms can be obtained from the School's Community Ed. Office, on the school's website or at northlandrunner.com.

There is also a kids event on the same day.
