Local Sports for Friday June 1


Manitou Forest Products scored its fourth straight shutout win in the Borderland Soccer League, blanking La Place RendezVous Voyageurs 6-0.

Ahamadou Idrissou potted 4 goals.

In the other game, International Travel Services tied Pharmasave 2-2



The Big Grassy Braves remain perfect after six games in the Rainy River District Fastball League.

The Braves defeated Northwest Bay 12-5 to remain the league's only unbeaten team.

Elsewhere, Sean Comegan belted a pair of homers helping Big Island to an 18-6 win over Couchiching.

The Cubs edged the Lakers 7-6 in a game involved the two Sabaskong teams.

Barwick got by Sight & Sound 11-7

Manitou won its first of the season, 16-9 over Stratton

Rainy River moved into second spot after beating Beefs Warriors 13-10.




International Falls Broncos boys baseball team's season is over.

The Broncos were defeated by Cloquet 7-3 in a quarter-final game of the Section 7-double A championship.



Steve Arpin races in the ARCA series this weekend at Elko Speedway, near Minneapolis.

It's one of three races he'll drive in for Venturini Motorsports.

Arpin says he's still aiming for more events in NASCAR's Nationwide Series.

There is no scheduled television coverage of the race at Elko.
