Local Sports for Thursday June 14


A new coaching job for Dave Allison.

The Fort Frances native has been the new bench boss of the AHL's Peoria Riverman.

They're a farm team of the St. Louis Blues.

Allison was a scout with Pittsburgh last season.




Two more shutouts in the Borderland Soccer League's women's division.

Amy Wilson-Hands recorded her fourth no-no of the year as Boston Pizza blanked the La Place Rendez-Vous Voyageurs 5-0.

Laureen Peters potted three goals.


And Kirsten Boyer and Chantal Jodion shared the net in Taggs Source for Sports 8-nothing blitz of Al's Racquet Stringing.

Sara Roach with a hat trick in that game.




Weather will have some impact on today's local sport schedules, but the Rainy River District Fastball League has a full slate of games.

Big Grassy is at Barwick looking for its 10th straight win.

Rainy River visits Manitou.

The Sabaskong Lakers host Couchiching.

Sight and Sound takes on Big Island.

Sabaskong Cup play Beef's Warriors.

And Northwest Bay entertains Stratton.

Falls Kart Club was scheduled to get its season underway tonight at Rainy Lake Oil Raceway.

The races have been cancelled and may go Sunday.
