Local Sports for Wednesday June 13


Manitou Forest Products remains perfect in the men's division of the Borderland Soccer League.

Ahamado Idrissou scored three times as Manitou recorded its seventh straight shutout win, blanking the La Place Rendez-Vous Voyageurs 6-0

In the other game, International Travel Services defeated Pharmasave 3-1.

Ian Friesen scored twice for the Travellers.



The women conclude their week in the Borderland Soccer League tonight.

Taggs Source for Sports battles Al's Racquet Stringing.

Boston Pizza plays the La Place RendezVous Voyageurs.





Big Grassy Braves remain unbeaten in the Rainy River District Fastball League after defeating Couchiching 18-10.

Elsewhere, Rainy River walloped the Sabaskong Lakers 24-10

Big Island blanked Manitou 17-nothing with the league's home run leader Sean Comegon belting two more.

Sight & Sound Wolves got by the  Sabaskong Cubs 4-1.

Beefs Warriors beat Stratton Eagles 9-7.

Barwick defeated Northwest Bay 7-3.




Results from two track meets in Rainy River from last week.

Both meets involved schools in the west end of the district.

Riverview claimed the junior title.

Donald Young won the intermediate crown.

A high school swimmer has been named to Fort Frances High School's Athletic Hall of Fame.

Donovan Taylor represented the School at the all-Ontario high school swimming championships in two consecutive, winning a gold and silver, a first for the school.

The honour was announced during the school's athletics awards banquet last night.

Among the other award winners, Gavin Moorhouse and Erika Moffitt who were named athletes of the year.
