Local Sports for Wednesday June 6


A six-goal performance in the Borderland Soccer League last night.

Chris Wiedenhoeft accomplished the feat in Pharmasave's 10-1 blitz of the La Place RendezVous Voyageurs.

In the other game, Manitou Forest Products recorded its fourth straight shutout with a 5-0 win over International Travel Services.



In the Rainy River District Fastball League, the Big Grassy Braves ran their record to 7 and 0 with  12-8 win over second place Rainy River.

Barwick defeated the Sabaskong Cubs 11-4

Northwest Bay got by Couchiching 13-11.

Sight & Sound Wolves beat Manitou 16-7.

Stratton edged the Sabaskong Lakers 5-4.

Beefs Warriors beat Big Island 9-7 with Sean Comegan blasting his league leading 5th home of the season.





Donald Young School took the intermediate track and field meet in Rainy River involving schools at the west end of the district.

Individual winners were Myron Armstrong of Sturgeon Creek and Janelle Kaemingh of Donald Young in the Grade 7 division.

Hunter Nielson of Sturgeon Creek and Elizabeth Fraser of Riverview School took were the Grade 8 winners.





Boston Pizza looking to extend its win streak in the Borderland Soccer League's women's division as it faces Al's Raquet Stringing.
