Local Sports for Monday June 18


Fort Frances Lakers has Tanner Hamilton back in net for the 2012-13 season.

In 21 games last season, Hamilton went 14-3-2.

Lakers also signed Mathew Chasse of Brossard, Quebec.

He played in the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League last season for Temiskaming, recording 19 points in 41 games.

In other Laker news, Steve Terry has accepted an offer to play for Williston State College.

Terry recorded 17 points after being acquired in a trade with Wisconsin.




Go-karting in Emo Friday say A.J. Kellar win the feature race in the Novice class.

Justin Beusch and Raice Westover with the heat wins.

Tanner Williamson earned the checkers in the Advanced class feature as well as in a heat.

Wyatt Boyum captured the other heat.



Weather forced the cancellation of both the stock car races at Emo Saturday and the go-karting yesterday in International Falls.




Lorne Ricard of Fort Frances was 64th overall and third in his age category at the Manitoba Marathon yesterday.

Darryl Gannon of Atikokan was 57th.

Brad Jewell of Fort Frances was 10th in the 15-19 age category in the half marathon.






A handful of runners from this area taking in the Gramma's Marathon in Duluth Saturday.

Danni Ailli, Robby Lucca, Tyler Wickstrom and Brian Tolly of International Falls and Kerry Zub of Fort Frances all finishing the 26-mile event
