Local Sports for Thursday May 31


Fort Frances Muskies boys soccer team have defending its NORWOSSA title.

Muskies scored a 1-0 win over Dryden yesterday.

The provincial event is next week in Hamilton.

Meantime, the Muskies girls team was eliminated from the playoffs with a loss to Dryden in a semi-final game.



In the Borderland Soccer League, Boston Pizza beat Taggs Source for Sports 2-1

Laureen Peters with both goals for Boston while Courtney Roach replied for Taggs.

Al's Racquet Stringing edged the La Place Rendez-Vous Voyageurs 2-1.



Big Grassy Braves will look to extend their unbeaten streak to six games in the Rainy River District Fastball League they travel to Northwest Bay.

The Braves, at 5 and 0, are the league's only unbeaten team.

Elsewhere Couchiching plays in Big Island.

Sabaskong's Lakers and Cub tangle for the first time this season.

Sight and Sound hosts Barwick.

Manitou plays in Stratton.

Beef's Warriors and Rainy River in a battle for second spot.





International Falls Broncos have advanced to the quarter-final round of the Section 7AA boys baseball championship.

The 4th ranked Broncos beat Greenway 4-2 and faced Cloquet in Hibbing today.





Men wrap up their week in the Borderland Soccer League.

Manitou Forest Products looks to continue its clean season intact against the La Place RendezVous Voyageurs.

Manitou has not given up a goal in three games.

A Fort Frances man is among 900 athletes in Kingston today for the start of the Ontario Special Olympic Games in Kingston
