Local Sports for Thursday June 7


Fort Frances Muskies have lost their first game at the provincial boys AA soccer championship in North Bay.

Muskies were blanked 3-0 by top ranked Cardinal Carter of Leamington this morning.

They face Toronto's St. Mary's this afternoon.




Rainy River Owls girls soccer team also lost their game at the provincial single A girls soccer championship in Elgin.

Owls were defeated by Smithville 8-0.

They play the University of Toronto Schools this afternoon.




Courtney Roach scored twice while Wynonna Kavanaugh added another as Taggs Source for Sports defeated the La Place Rendez-Vous Voyageurs 3-1 in the women's division of the Borderland Soccer League.

The other game saw Al's Raquet Stringing forfeit to Boston Pizza because of a lack of players.





Men conclude their week in the Borderland Soccer League.

Unbeaten Manitou Forest Products plays Pharmasave.

The La Place RendezVous Voyageurs play International Travel Services.




Rainy River District Fastball League action has the league leading Big Grassy Braves home to the Sabaskong Lakers.

Manitou hosts Couchiching.

Rainy River is at Stratton.

Big Island is in Sabaskong to play the Cubs.

Barwick tangles with Beefs Warriors.

Sight and Sound hosts Northwest Bay.
