Local Sports for Friday April 27


Jillian Langtry of Fort Frances scored her third game-winning goal of the tournament as the Thunder Bay Queens defeated Pembina 5-4 at the Esso Cup in Charlottetown.

The win leaves the team undefeated in the round robin at the national women's midget hockey championship.

They will face Halifax in today's semi-final.




Another victory for the Falls High School Girls track team.

They finished 13 points ahead of Warroad to win the Warroad Knights of Columbus meet.

Amy Auran had first place finishes in both the 1600 metre run and pole vault.

Lexi Owen in the hurdles, Breana Schofner in the 400 metre dash and Savannah Olson in the shot put were also individual winners.

The boys team placed second behind Warroad.

Paul Skoglund in the hurdles and Logan Veillieux in the 3200 metre run had individual wins.



International Falls Broncos boys baseball team lost to Greenway 3-2 in 13 innings.



Fort Frances Muskies boys soccer team season is underway.


The Muskies are in tournament action in Winnipeg this weekend.

They begin league play May 9th.
