Local Sports for Monday April 30


Fort Frances Muskies boys soccer team won the B-side of a pre-season tournament in Winnipeg, defeating Glenlawn of Winnipeg 2-1.




International Falls Broncos boys baseball team got shut out in a double header against Hermantown played Saturday.

The Broncos lost the first 7-0, then dropped a 3-0 game in the second.

They'll host North East Range High School tonight at 4:30 p.m. at Scheela Field.




Rainy River Voyageurs men's baseball team split games Sunday with Fond du Lac, losing 11-6 in the opener, then beating the Thnuder 14-1 in the second.

Both Colleges finished tied in the MCAC Northern Division standings at 3-9 and will meet in a play in game Tuesday in Grand Rapids to determine which squad advances to the playoffs.




The Voyageurs women's softball team won just one of five games played at a MCAC cross-over tournament in St. Cloud.

The Voyageurs defeated Vermilion 11-7, but lost to Anoka-Ramsay 10-8, Ridgewater 12-5, Fergus Falls 18-14 and St. Cloud Tech 9-3.




Pembina Valley upset Thunder Bay Queens 4-2 to win the national women's midget hockey tournament in Prince Edward Island.

The St. Francis Sentinels captured the boys' division at the Rainy River District Athetic Association's elementary school basketball championships Saturday with an exciting 13-11 overtime victory over the Crossroads Tornadoes.

 In the girls division, the Riverview Royals from Rainy River defeated St. Francis in the final.
