Local Sports for Wednesday May 9


The NORWOSSA soccer season kicks off today in Fort Frances.

The Muskies boys and girls teams take on school teams from Kenora and Dryden in the first of three mini-tournament.

Action begins at 10 a.m.




International Falls Broncos boys baseball team defeated Eveleth-Gilbert 5-2, for their fourth straight win.

Caleb Dahlin pitched the complete game win, giving up just two hits and striking out 12.

Christian Kittelson went 2 for 4 at the plate.




Falls High School track teams were competing in two different cities yesterday.

The girls team finished fourth overall at the True Team meet at Grand Rapids.

The boys team was in Eveleth-Gilbert were they fifth overall.

A Fort Frances golfer finished second at a junior tournament in Manitoba on the weekend.

19-year-old Jordan Sinclair shot a two-day total of 174, five shots of the pace of the eventual winner of the boys 17-to-19 age division of the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour event.

The event was also a qualifier for a world tournament later this year in San Diego.




Registration is being accepted for a fun run hosted by Energy Fitness.

The May 26th event includes a five-kilometre run and a one-K event for children, both beginning at the Sorting Gap Marina in Fort Frances.

Cost is 20-dollars, five for the children's run.

All of the proceeds will go to support Fort Frances Kidsport.
