Local Sports for Thursday May 24


Fort Frances Muskies have finished atop the boys division in NORWOSSA soccer.

The Muskies blanked Dryden 2-0 then tied Kenora 2-2 to finish the season unbeaten with 4 wins and two draws.

The girls team lost 2-0 to Dryden, but rebounded for a 1-nil win over Kenora.

Fort Frances will host the playoffs next Wednesday.




Taggs Source for Sports scored a 3-1 win over Al's Racquet Stringing to open women's play in the Borderland Soccer Association.

Wynonna Kavanaugh, Sara Roach and Rebecca Selman scored for Taggs

Shannon Darby had the lone marker for Al's.

A game between Boston Pizza and the La Place Rendez-Vous Voyageurs was postponed and will be rescheduled to later date.




Falls High School girls track team finished first at a meeting in Hibbing.

Breanna Shofner scored wins in both the 100 meter and 200 meter dash.

Lexi Erickson in the 32-hundred metre run, Haily Fentem in the 100 meter hurdles, Savanah Olson in the discuss, Amy Auran in the pole vault and the team's 4 by 100 meter relay team were also victorious.

On the boys sides, the Falls placed 4th.




Weather again cancelled the playoff game between the International Falls Broncos girls softball team and Virginia.

They'll try again in Cohasset this afternoon with the winner playing Esko.
