Local Sports For Friday November 16

Rainy River Owls senior girls basketball team is headed to the all-Ontario high school championships.

The Owls claimed the NWOSSA title by defeating Marathon in two straight games, 55-29 and 35-20.

The division A provincial championship is next weekend in St. Catherines.



Fort Frances Muskies senior girls basketball team will look for a berth to the AA championship today in Thunder Bay.

The NorWossa champs begin a best of the three series for the NWOSSA crown against the city champ St. Ignatius Falcons.



Fort Frances Canadians AA bantam hockey team hosts a 12 team tournament at the Memorial Sports Centre that gets underway this morning.

Canadians first game is at 10:45 a,m, against the Winnipeg Railcats.

Admission is free.



In a girls pee-week hockey game last night, the Emo Express defeated Fort Frances Esso 4-1.

Taylor Croswell with a pair, Avery Cates and Reese McQuaker scored for Emo.



Fort Frances Lakers have a pair of games this weekend with Minnesota clubs.

They host the Iron Rangers tonight at the Ice for Kids Arena before travelling to Cloquet to face the league leading Wilderness tomorrow.



Fort Frances Muskies hockey teams are in action in two different locations today.

The boys team is in tournament play in Morden, Manitoba.

The girls team travels to Proctor.



International Falls Broncos girls hockey team is on the road tonight.

They face Silver Bay



The first curling bonspiel of the year goes at the Fort Frances Curling Club this weekend.

It starts today at 5 p.m.

The club is looking at at least four more team to join.



Rainy River Voyageurs men's and women's basketball teams are in Ely for games today.
