Local Sports For Monday November 5

Fort Frances Muskies girls hockey team lost out to Kenora in the final of its tournament held on the weekend at the Memorial Sports Centre.

Muskies went down to defeat by the score of 3-2.

Muskies had gone undefeated in the tournament until then.




Fort Frances High School runner, Sydney Radigan was 140th out of 244 runners at the all-Ontario Cross Country championships in Brampton.

Radigan was competing for the first time in the Midget 3K run.



At the Minnesota Cross Country State championships, Lexi Erickson of International Falls finished 19th in the girls run.

Rachel Foss was 103rd.



Fort Frances Lakers dropped their second straight game Saturday to the hands of the Dryden Ice Dogs in Dryden 3-1.

The Lakers lost 4-1 the night before to the Dogs at the Ice for Kids Arena.
Colton Spicer scored his team high 10th of the season in Saturday's contest.



Fort Frances Canadians pee-wees swept their games in the Northwestern Ontario Pee-Wee AA league held Saturday in Dryden.

Canadians first edged Sioux Lookout 5-4 then beat Dryden 5-2.



Emo's Luke Judson scored his 9th goal of the season in Lakehead University's 5-4 win over Carlton Saturday.

He also recorded a pair of assists in Friday 6-2 loss to the Ravens.



Fort Frances and Kenora are joining forces to seek out Canada's national senior hockey title.

Kenora Thistles, the region's lone senior team, is inviting former Thunderhawks to an orientation camp this Saturday in Kenora.

Former hawks General Manager Dean Bruyere, now serving as an assistant GM to the Kenora team, says a number of former Fort players have already committed to playing.

Bruyere says the team will be based out of Kenora with attempts being made to play some games in the Fort.



Falls High School junior girls swim team earned a number of podium finishes at the Little Giant Invite at Mesabi East yesterday.

Emily Saari won the 100 yard freestyle and placed second in the 100 yard individual medley.

Carolann Stone earned second place finishes in the 200 yard free and 100 yard backstroke.

Emma Misner won the 100 yard free while Abby Kostiuk won 100 yard backstroke.
