Local Sports For Wednesday November 14

Fort France Muskies boys hockey team opened its NorWossa in a big way.

Braden Webb and Ahawennaseh Mitchell scored twice as the Muskies powered by the Dryden Eagles 7-2.

Nick Kaun had a goal and two assists with Tyler Fontana and Cole Godbout also scoring.

Muskies are in tournament play in Morden this weekend



Fort Frances Muskies girls team is also into the win column in NorWossa play.

Shilo Beck scored three times in helping the Muskies to a 6-4 win over Dryden at the 52 Canadian Rink.

Jessica Coran, Amber Jourdain, and Shelby Tymkin each added singles.

Calie Clendenning faced 26 shots for the win in net.



International Falls Broncos girls hockey team came out on the losing end of an 8-0 shellacking at the hands of the Roseau Rams to open its season.



Fort Frances Muskies opponent in the NWOSSA championship in senior girls basketball has been determined.

St. Ignatius Falcons advanced after winning its third straight Thunder Bay title over Hammarskjold Monday.

The best of three final goes this weekend in Thunder Bay with the winner advancing to the provincial championship.



A member of the Rainy River Voyageurs women's basketball team has earned player of the week honours in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference's northern division.

Tiera Martin of Milwaukee lead the team in scoring and in steals in a pair of wins over the weekend.



Jonathan Losurdo of the Minnesota Iron Rangers has been named player of the week in the SIJHL.

Jordan Larson of the Fort Frances Lakers was an honourable mention.



Some honours for members of the International Falls Broncos football team.

Quarterback Gunnar Anderson, who also played on the defensive line, has been named an all-star in the Sea Range Conference.

Coach Jay Boyle was named coach of the year.



Boston Pizza remains the only unbeaten team in the Borderland Women's Indoor Soccer League as it enters week five of its inaugural season.

BP looks for win number five as it plays Cater 2 U.

The league has also announced a new sponsor for its teams.

Peter's Plumbing and Heating has come on board to sponsor the former Red Team.

It's still looking for two others.
