Local Sports for Friday February 19

NORWOSSA playoffs for boys basketball and girls volleyball get underway this morning in Dryden.

The Muskies junior and senior girls' volleyball teams face Kenora in semi-final action with the winners advancing to this afternoon's finals.

The junior and senior boys' basketball teams both earned byes to the finals and await the outcomes of this morning's semis between Dryden and Kenora.


Basketball action at Falls High School today sees the Broncos girls' team hosting Duluth-Marshall with a 7:30 p.m. start.

The boys' basketball team travels to Hibbing.


International Falls Broncos boys' hockey team will close out its regular season tonight with a home game against the Fort Frances Muskies.

Broncos have not lost to the Muskies in two previous meeting this season.

Game time at Bronco Arena is 7:30 p.m.

Meantime, the Muskies girls' hockey team is in Kenora


Fort Frances Lakers will entertain the K-and-A Wolverines - 7:30 p.m. at the Ice for Kids Arena tonight.

It's the first of a two game series with the fourth place Wolverines who are six points up on the Lakers


The two-time defending champion Rainy River Voyageur's have been ranked number one in the west for the upcoming American Collegiate Hockey Association women's division two national tournament.

The event will be held next month in Blaine, Minnesota.

Rainy River, St. Scholastica and South Dakota will represent the West Region.

Northeastern, Delaware and Vermont will represent the East Region.
