Local Sports for Thursday February 25

Fort Frances Lakers fell 5-3 to the Dryden Ice Dogs in an SIJHL game played in Dryden.

Lakers were down 3-nothing after one period and tied the game in the second on goals from Blake Boaz, Justin Erhart and Mike Jourdain.

They gave up the winning goal a minute after tying the game.

The Lakers end their regular season tomorrow in Sioux Lookout.


International Falls Broncos boys' hockey team will open the section 7-A championship at home with a game against Two Harbour.

The Broncos are ranked second and blanked their opponents 10-0 in a game played at the beginning of this month.

Two Harbours beat out Greenway earlier this week in overtime to advance.

Game time at Bronco Arena is 7:30 p.m.


In Atom Girls hockey last night, the Rolling Lake Lightning defeated Kaemingh Esso 1-0.

Annalise Hayes scored the lone goal with Marissa Loveday earning the shutout in net.

In PeeWee Girls hockey action from Tuesday night, the Emo Thunderbolts beat Fort Frances Super 8 4-2.


Judy LaBelle takes her Fort Frances rink to the Northern Ontario senior women's curling playdown in Blind River.

LaBelle's rink earned a berth to the event after finishing first at a regional event last month.

She opens the event with a game this afternoon against Thunder Bay's Barbara Ward.
