Local Sports for Monday February 22

Fort Frances Muskies court teams took two of four NORWOSSA titles played Friday in Dryden.

The senior boys' basketball team defeated Kenora to to earn a berth to the NWOSSA championship in Thunder Bay.

The junior boys' captured the NORWOSSA title with a 71-34 victory over Dryden.

The junior girls' and senior girls' volleyball teams lost in their respective finals to Dryden.


In the Falls, the Broncos boys' basketball team last the Hibbing Friday 69-43 while the girls' team defeated Duluth-Marshall 62-44 and play Orr tonight.


International Falls Broncos boys' hockey team defeated the Fort Frances Muskies 5-1 Friday in the Falls as both teams tune up for their respective playoffs.

The Muskies open defence of their NORWOSSA title with first round action this coming weekend against Red Lake.

The Broncos open the section 7-A championship Thursday.


Fort Frances Lakers dropped a pair of home games to the K & A Wolverines.

Lakers lost 5-4 on Friday and 3-2 on Saturday leaving them 10 points back of the Wolves.


In girls hockey over the weekend, The Rolling Lake Lightning team defeated International Falls under-10 team 4-2.

Annalise Hayes with two goals and Kassidy Fryer and Abby Plourde scored for the Lightning.
Lexi Edwards had both Falls goals.
