Local Sports for Wednesday February 24

Fort Frances Lakers ended their home schedule with a 3-0 loss to the Dryden Ice Dogs at the Ice for Kids Arena last night.

The two teams meet again tonight in Dryden.


Fort Frances Muskies girls' hockey team ended the NORWOSSA regular season with a win on home ice last night.

Muskies defeated Dryden 5-2 on goals from Jesse Baker, Taylor Dixon, Jillian Langtry, Courtney Bethune and Carlee Bosma.

Muskies opens the first round of the plays Friday in Kenora.


Fort Frances Muskies senior boys' basketball team's opponent for the NWOSSA championship has been determined.

Churchill defeated St. Ignatius last night to win the Thunder Bay high school title and the right play the Muskies.

Game 1 goes Friday in the Fort with the second and third game, if necessary, being played on Saturday.

The winner advances to the Ontario Double-A tournament in Windsor next month.


International Falls Broncos boys basketball team was beaten 58-46 by Orr.

Gunnar Anderson led all Broncos with 17 points.


In girls hockey last night, the Rolling Lake Lightning defeated the Emo Penguins with a score of 5 -0.

Abby Plourde and Annalise Hayes each scored twice with Jenna Clendenning scoring the other goal.
