Local Sports for Tuesday February 2nd

The first three finishers of the Arrowhead Marathon are cyclists.

Jeff Oatley of Alaska finished the 135 mile trek between International Falls and Tower at about 11:20 p.m. last night.

Pete Basinger of Alaska and David Pramann of Minnesota were seconds behind.

A total of 102 competitors are taking part, including participants from Spain, Germany and Brazil.


Matt Youso scored a hat trick to pace the International Falls Broncos boys' hockey team to a 10-0 of Two Harbours last night.

Christopher Little with a pair, Willie Corrin, Jordan Christianson, Jon McDonald, Brandon Richards, and Dylan Farmer adds the others.

Mike Hart stopped all 17 shots to earn the shutout.

On the court, the Broncos boys' basketball team defeated Ely 52-41 while the girls' team dropped a 62-52 decision to Mountain Iron-Buhl.



Fort Frances Muskies junior boys' basketball team continued its winning ways with a 40-39 victory over the Lake of the Woods Bears in Baudette last night.



Fort Frances Lakers will host the Sioux Lookout Flyers tonight - 7:30 at the Ice for Kids Arena.
Lakers are 3-1 in their last four home games.



Ben Gordon is back in the American Hockey League.

The native of International Falls has been loaned to the Abbotsford Heat by his East Coast Hockey League team Reading Royals.

It Gordon's third trip to the AHL this season having been loaned previously to Providence and Toronto.
