Local Sports For Monday February 25

Fort Frances Muskies ended the Female World Sport School Challenge in Winnipeg with a 5-2 loss to Banff Hockey Academy in the 7th place game.

Shilo Beck and Jessica Coran scored for the Muskies who went winless in the event.

The Muskies are scheduled to face Dryden tonight in playoff action for the Northland Cup.



Fort Frances Muskies boys hockey team is into the finals of its Northland series after a 4-0 win Saturday against Kenora's Beaver Brae.

The Muskies will face Thomas Aquinas of Kenora for a two-game total goal final.

First game goes tomorrow night in Kenora with the second being played at the Memorial Sports Centre Friday night.



Rainy River Voyageurs women's hockey team split games played against the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Voyageurs lost Saturday's opener 4-3 with Janet Scherrer scoring twice.

Yesterday, Taylor Dixon notched a hat trick as Rainy River blanked their guests 6-0.



Fort Frances Canadians AA peewee team went undefeated on the weekend.

In league play yesterday in Sioux Lookout, the Canadians earned a 1-1 tie with Dryden and a 6-3 win over the host Flyers.

Friday night, they defeated the International Falls Broncos junior varsity squad 4-1 in an exhibition game played in the Falls.



International Falls Broncos boys hockey team had its season end Saturday with a 4-0 loss to Duluth-Denfeld in a section 7A semi-final game.



International Falls Broncos boys basketball team defeated Duluth-Marshall Saturday 80-62.



Rainy River Voyageurs men's basketball team scored a 96-70 win over Fond Du Lac on Saturday.



Fort Frances Muskies junior girls volleyball team came away with a strong performance at the second stage of play in the Northland Series Cup held in Kenora.

The girls beat Dryden and Ignace and split games with Sioux Lookout, but lost both played against Kenora's Thomas Aquinas.

The final of the three tournaments for the Cup goes in Dryden this Saturday.
