Local Sports For Thursday February 21

A pair of goals from Merritt Rysavy paced the Fort Frances Lakers to a 4-2 win over the Dryden Ice Dogs in Dryden.

Kevin Kurm and Simon Desrosiers add the others Laker goals.

The win moves the Fort six points up on the Dogs in the race for second place.



Rainy River Voyageurs basketball team again split games, this time in Ely.

The women beat Vermillion Community College 69-59.

The men fell 88-71 to Vermillion.



In the Borderland Women's Indoor Soccer League, Jess Caul added to her league-leading total with four goals in helping Peter's Plumbing and Heating to a 6-5 win over Wright Physiotherapy.

Heather Wright had three goals in a losing cause for Wright's.

Alyssa Holliday notched a hat trick as Cater 2-U beat Fit Lifestyles and Condition 4-3

Boston Pizza edged out Leon's Fort Frances 4-3.



Fort Frances Muskies girls hockey has dropped its first game at the inaugural Female World Sport School Challenge taking place in Winnipeg.

Muskies lost to St. Mary's Academy 4-0.

They'll play again tomorrow against Okanagan, B.C.



International Falls Broncos boys hockey team will begin its playoffs tonight.

They're in Virginia for a first round game in the Section 7A championship.

Broncos are ranked 5th in the tournament.
