Dryden Ice Dogs defeated the Fort Frances Lakers 4-1 in Dryden to bite into the Lakers lead in their SIJHL semi-final series.

Alex Bruess notched the Lakers only goal early in the third.

Game four goes tonight in Dryden.



Dryden's Len Pelletier has been named the SIJHL's best defenceman.

No Lakers were nominated.



Rainy River Voyageurs women's softball team lost its first games of the season.

The Voyageurs dropped a pair to Prairie State of Illinois, 5-2 and 9-1, then lost 3-0 to State University of New York.

Oashaja Dobie struck out 11 in the loss to State.

Last week, the Voyageurs won all six games played to open their season.
