Local Sports For Monday March 11

Fort Frances Lakers concluded their home half of the SIJHL season with a pair of losses on the weekend to the Thunder Bay North Stars.

Lakers were blanked 1-0 Saturday, after suffering a 2-1 loss Friday night.

The teams conclude their seasons with games tonight in Thunder Bay and again Wednesday.

The Lakers can determine who they want to face in the SIJHL semi-finals in their final two games with Thunder Bay.

A Lakers win tonight or Wednesday will mean facing Dryden.

They'll play Thunder Bay if the North Stars take both games.



International Falls Broncos boys basketball team was defeated Saturday 75-62 by Deer River in the quarter-finals of the Section 7AA championship.



The Fort Frances Youth Soccer Club and the Borderland Soccer League are sponsoring a referee clinic to get more officials certified for the youth and adult leagues.

The free course takes place April 13 and 14.

Keith Aili was first on the trail after a taking a break in Finland this morning.
