A local connection to today's start of the Canadian College curling championships in Edmonton.

Cody Heyens is playing lead for Fanshawe College's men's team.

Heyens is in his second year of the Manufacturing Engineer Tech program.

Fanshawe opens play this morning with a game against Confederation College.
