Local Sports For Wednesday February 20

International Falls Broncos basketball teams split games with North Woods.

The boys team won 82-59.

The girls lost 75-45.



Playoff match-ups for the Fort Frances Muskies hockey teams have been set.

The boys team, who finished first overall, will host Kenora's Beaver Brae Broncos this Saturday in a first round game.

The girls ended the season second and will host Dryden in a game scheduled for this Friday.



Fort Frances Lakers travel to Dryden for a key match-up with the Ice Dogs.

Lakers are four points up on the Ice Dogs in the race for second spot in the standings.

The two teams will hook up five times between now and the end of the season.

Lakers have won the last two meetings.



Back-to-back player of the week honours for a member of the Rainy River Voyageurs men's basketball team.

Jeff Romeus, of Florida, was selected tops in the MCAC's northern division after averaging 36 points per game in two games last week, including 47 in the Voyageurs double over time win over Hibbing.

It's the freshman's fourth award this season.



Rainy River Voyageurs basketball teams are in Ely to face Vermilion Community College.
