Local Sports For Friday December 13

Fort Frances Muskies girls hockey team ran it unbeaten streak in NorWossa play to five  games with an 8-1 pounding of Kenora's Beaver Brae Broncos in Kenora last night.

Kaily Greengrass and Amy Penner led the onslaught with a pair of goals each.

The Muskies are in tournament play in Kenora this weekend.



Rainy River Owls court teams took three of four matches against Red Lake yesterday.

Both the senior and junior girls volleyball teams sweeping the Rams in three games.

The Owls junior boys basketball team won its game 50-10.

The seniors lost 81-27.

Wednesday, the Owls took three of four games from Sioux Lookout's Queen Elizabeth Warriors with the Owls girls volleyball teams sweeping their games and the junior boys basketball team winning 57-34

The senior boys lost 51-38.



International Falls native Ben Gorden had a five point night including scoring a natural hat trick in the first period as the Tulsa Oilers down Brampton 6-4 in a Central Hockey League contest.

Gordon is now third in league scoring.



Three bantam curling teams from the Rainy River district open play later this afternoon in a Northern Ontario Curling Association regional qualifier in Sioux Lookout.

There are two teams from Fort Frances with Chris Silver skipping a boys rink that includes Reece Jones, Kurtwood McGuire and Jason Bazylewski.

Skip Hailey Beaudry and teammates Nicole Hartlin, Erin Tomalty, Victoria Beaudry and Anika Beaudry compete for the girls title.

Lindsay Cain of Atikokan is also competing with her rink mates Taylor Anderson, Brianna Selman and Cloey Brigham.
