Local Sports For Wednesday December 11

Fort Frances Lakers were upset last night in Ear Falls, losing 4-3 to the English River Miners.

Lucas Debenedet scored a pair for the Lakers with Mason Meyer getting the other.

The two teams hook up again Friday at the Ice for Kids Arena.



A third period rally helped the Fort Frances Muskies boys hockey team to a 4-2 win over Kenora's Thomas Aquinas Saints last night at the Ice For Kids Arena.

Muskies were down 2-1 after two periods before goals from David Pryde, Jarred Taylor, with the eventual winner and an empty net marker from Chase Ferguson sealed the win.

Aaron McDowell also scored.



Fort Frances Muskies girls hockey team improved to 4 and 0 in NorWossa play with a 9-4 win over the Dryden Eagles.

They play Kenora's Beaver Brae Broncos tomorrow in advance of a weekend tournament.



Fort Frances Muskies winter court teams opened their seasons in Dryden with mixed results.

Matt Swing and Jason Empy each had 8 points as the junior boys basketball team beat the Eagles 46-23.

The seniors lost 73-46.

Cole Edwards with 17 points.

In girls volleyball, the Muskies senior team lost in 4 sets while the juniors were beaten in three.



In International Falls, a three goal third period gave the Broncos boys hockey team a 3-2 win over Lake of the Woods in Baudette.

Jakob Ettestad, Jackson Vollom, Brady Walls with the winner scoring the Broncos.

The Broncos girls team dropped a 4-3 game to Hibbing.

Abby Auran, Hillary Fox and Lexi Edwards scoring for the Broncos.

The Broncos boys basketball team lost to Chisholm 61-55.

Ben Humbert led with 21 points.
