Local Sports For Monday January 13

Thunder Bay skips Bryan Burgess, Bryan Adams Junior and Dylan Johnston have earned berths to the Northern Ontario men's curling championship next month in Timmins following a qualifying event in Fort Frances.

Each defeated Stratton's Trevor Bonot who played in all three finals, but failed to advance.

Adam Bolen of Fort Frances was eliminated early after losing all three of his games.



Hailey Beaudry of Fort Frances earned a berth to the Northern Ontario bantam girls championship after beating Atikokan's Lindsay Cain in two games at qualifier in Stratton.

Jarrod Hoppe of Kenora took the boys qualifier and joins Chris Silver of Fort Frances at the championships that take place in Sault Ste. Marie at the end of this month.



Fort Frances Muskies boys hockey team split games against Minnesota schools on the weekend, beating Detroit Lakes 9-2 on Saturday, but losing 7-3 to Red Lake Falls on Friday.

Braden Webb had a pair of goals in Saturday's win.



International Falls Broncos boys hockey team played to a 0-0 draw Friday against Greenway.

The Broncos have not scored a goal in three straight games.



The Broncos girls hockey team scored a pair of wins on the weekend, beat Crookston 2-1 in overtime Saturday and Park Rapids Friday 3-1.



The Broncos girls basketball team defaeted Hibbing Friday 62-40.



The Broncos boys basketball team beat Mesabi East Friday 70-64.
