Local Sports For Wednesday January 8

Former Fort Frances native Duncan Keith will again wear Canada's colours in the Winter Olympics after being selected to play for Canada's men's hockey team.

Keith, who played his minor hockey in Fort Frances, was a member of the gold medal team in 2010.



Fort Frances Muskies boys hockey team breezed to an 11-0 over Kenora's Thomas Aquinas Saints last night at the Ice for Kids Arena.

Jarred Taylor and Matt Cheetam led the attach with two goals each.

Tyler Vanuden, Tyler Mosbeck, Graeme Kitt, Aaron McDowall, Cole Tymkin, David Pryde and Chase Ferguson added singles.

Derek Kaemingh was in net for the shut out.



More roster moves for the Fort Frances Lakers.

The Lakers have re-acquired Bryson Jasper from the English River Miners.

Jasper had been traded to the Miners back in October in a deal for Colton Spicer.

The Lakers have also announced the trade of forward Torrin Grange to Elliot Lake of the Northern Ontario league and the signing of defenceman Cam Jackson from Gustavus University.

The Lakers host the Minnesota Iron Rangers tonight for their first contest of 2014 tonight.



The Fort Frances girls hockey team is back on home ice tonight.

The Muskies are in a NorWossa league game against Kenora's Thomas Aquanis Saints - 7 p.m. at the 52 Canadian Rink.



The Rainy River Voyageurs basketball teams travel to Hibbing for games against the Cardinals
