Local Sports for Friday October 1

Steve Arpin lost the lead with just five laps remaining to finish second at an ARCA series race in Kansas.

Arpin, who led for 27 laps in the race, was holding a five-car edge going into the late stages of the 100-lap race before a caution flag flew.

He regained the lead on the restart, before being passed by the eventual winner Ty Dillon,



International Falls Broncos girls volleyball team earned another win, defeating Eveleth-Gilbert in five-sets by scores of 26-24, 21-25, 19-25, 26-24 and 15-11.

Sydney Gordon had 28 kills and 21 digs - Reva Renollet with 49 set assists and 12 digs



Rainy River Owls volleyball teams dropped a pair of games against Whitefish Bay.

The junior boys lost in four-sets while the Seniors were defeated in three.

Wednesday, the Owls swept games played against the Ignace Falcons.

The senior girls basketball team won 51-9 while the junior girls were 28-14 winners over Ignace.

The junior boys volleyball team defeated Ignace in five-set with the seniors winning in three.



In high school football today, the Fort Frances Muskies host Stonewall at 3 p.m.

International Falls Broncos host Hermantown at 7 p.m.



Fort Frances Muskies boys golf team have earn a trip to the provincial championship.

Kevin Jackson led all golfers with a round of 72 to help the team to its first ever NWOSSA golf championship.

Jackson, along with teammates Allan McDonald, Bryan Mosbeck and James Brown, prepares for the OFSSA's, taking place in Barrie October 12.




Fort Frances Lakers hit the road tonight for a game in Sioux Lookout for the start of a home and home series with the Flyers.

The two team will be at the ice for kids arena tomorrow
