Local Sports for Monday October 4

Fort Frances Lakers moved into a tied for first with Dryden in the SIJHL following a 4-0 win over Sioux Lookout Saturday at the Ice for Kids Arena.

Byron Katapaytuk, Jace Baldwin, Davis Smith and Tyler Stevenson provided the scoring.

Tyler Ampe stopped all 30 shots faced for the shutout.



The Fort Frances Boston Pizza Royals AA Peewee team took both games of a home-and-home series with Dryden.

The Royals edged Dryden 4-3 yesterday.

Noah Loveday had two goals with Tyler Vannuden and Graham Kitt adding the others.

Fort Frances won the series opener Saturday 5-4 on goals from Jordan Taggart, Graham Kitt, Cole Tymkin, Kyle Knapp and Austin Angus scored for the Royals.




Rainy River Voyageurs women's volleyball team defeated Fond du Lac Friday night in straight sets

Haylee Gates led with 9 kills and 3 ace serves. Danika Stelton had 21 set assists and Baylea Wendt had 10 digs.

The Voyageurs host Itasca tonight at 6:30 p.m.




In high school football, Fort Frances Muskies dropped a 14-13 decision to Stonewall on Friday.

International Falls Broncos were defeated 48-12 by Hermantown Friday.



High School sports in International Falls today sees the Broncos girls volleyball team hosting Hibbing at 7 p.m.

The Falls cross-country teams compete in Thief River Falls.

And the Rainy River Voyageurs women's volleyball team hosts Itasca at the College at 6:30 p.m.
