Local Sports for Monday October 25

Fort Frances Muskies girls hockey team defeated Dryden to win bronze at their home tournament over the weekend.

Ericka Tymkin, Shelby Tymkin, Jillian Langtry, and Danielle Jean scored for the Muskies.

Pembina Tigers from Winnipeg won the gold medal.




Tyler Ampe turned aside 25 of 26 shots to backstop the Fort Frances Lakers to a 3-1 victory over the Fort William North Stars, Saturday and earn a sweep at the SIJHL Showcase in Spooner, Wisconsin.

Jaret LeClair, Henry Gutierrez and Tyler Stevenson with his league leading 14th of the season scored for the Lakers who also defeated Duluth Friday 1-0.

The two-day event was meant to showcase players to college and pro scouts.



Fort Frances Muskies football team will face Dakota in the Winnipeg High School Football League quarterfinals after dropping their final game of the regular season Friday, 41-31 to St. Norbert.



Fort Frances Muskies junior boys volleyball team split into two squads for a tournament last weekend in Dryden.

Its A-team reaching the semi-finals before losing out to Thomas Aquinas of Kenora - 26-24, 16-25 and 10-15.

The B-team went 1-11 in the round robin before defeated by Whitefish Bay 19-25, 25-23 and 13-25 in a playoff match.
