Local Sports for Friday October 22

Fort Frances ThunderHawks have earned a direct berth to the next year's Allan Cup tournament in Kenora.

General Manager Dean Bruyere says the recent demise of the Thunder Bay Twins and Quebec' decision not to send a team gave Fort Frances the bye.

The Hawks won't see their first action until the middle of December.



Fort Frances Muskies girls hockey team opens its season today with a tournament at the Memorial Sport Centre.

The Muskies open with a game against Sioux Lookout at 2:15

Eight teams are taking part.



All six teams in the SIJHL will be showcased before college and pro scouts at an event in Spooner, Wisconsin this weekend.

It's the first time the league has held such an event.

Fort Frances Lakers will open the event with a game at noon against the expansion Duluth Clydesdales.



Fort Frances Muskies football team closes out its regular season with a home game today against St. Norbert.

Game time is 2 p.m.

And the Muskies junior girls basketball team plays host to a tournament this weekend at Fort Frances High School.
