Local Sports for Friday October 8

Fort Frances Muskies junior boys volleyball team got back on the winning track with a 3-set win over Kenora's Beaver Brae Broncos.

Scores were 25-23, 25-17, 25-15.

The Junior girls basketball team fell 24-17 to Kenora.



International Falls Broncos girls volleyball team defeated Ely in three sets, losing the first 19-25 then taking the next three by scores of 25-15, 25-19, 25-17.

Reva Renollet had 20 set assists while Sydney Gordon chipped in 12 kills and 4 ace serves.




Falls High School varsity girls cross-country runners topped all schools at a meet yesterday in Hibbing.

The girls had three runners in the top ten with Amber Harms leading the way in fifth.

Both the varsity boys and junior high boys teams were fifth in their respective divisions.

The junior varsity teams saw Megan Schwartz finish third for the girls while Dakota Ruelle had a fifth place finish in the boys event.




Steve Arpin posted the fastest time in an afternoon practice at Rockingham Speedway in advance of this weekend's ARCA series race.

Combined with his morning results, he ended the day fifth fastest overall.



High School football today sees the Fort Frances Muskies traveling to Winnipeg to play Dakota.

International Falls Broncos are in Eveleth.





Fort Frances Lakers are home to the Fort William North Stars at the Ice for Kids Arena.

Game time tonight is 7:30 p.m.



Rainy River Voyageurs women's volleyball team will honour its five sophomores prior to a game tonight with Mesabi East.

Game time at the College is 6:30 p.m.
